You’ve just finished up a major marketing and advertising campaign using various types of media – newspapers, magazines, radio, network and cable television and Internet. Management of your company wants to know the results and the ROI from that campaign. Unfortunately, the only number you’ve got is the amount of money you spent and it’s necessary to find out if that money was spent effectively.

You know that your website has been search engine optimized and it is bringing in an acceptable level of focused, quality visitors.

You’re reviewing your web log files on a daily basis, looking for trends and patterns that would identify traffic generated from this last as campaign. While there is an increase in both traffic and sales volume, the question of how much is related directly to the campaign persists.

The last set of metrics available to you indicated that approximately 75-80% of your traffic was generated by search engine referrals. This is before the launch of the campaign.

The question that must be answered is how to measure the actual return on investment and provide management with the statistics they’re looking for while you are in the middle of a new campaign. If you want to know how much new traffic was generated by the ad campaign rather than total traffic, which will include those with their source in search engine results, you should consider creating a landing page specific to the campaign. If you do this you will be able to track the number of visitors coming in through that campaign and, at the same time, be able to track your program’s conversion rate.

How to make a landing page work for you.

In the greater scheme of website development, the pages that make up the website are connected directly to both the sitemap and the homepage. This configuration allows spiders and crawlers to index each of those pages and include them in the search engine database.

Effective landing pages fly in the face of this practice.

If you want to get accurate numbers from a landing page, the following must be true.

Landing page is completely separate from both the sitemap and homepage.

Landing page is protected from spiders and crawlers.

Landing page cannot be directly reached by any visitors.

While common knowledge would have you do differently, there is no other way to get the number of visitors that reach that particular landing page because of an ad campaign. It’s impossible for someone simply surfing the Internet to get to that page. Now, in the real world, how does this help you gather the data you need?

Follow this example. Assume your company sells exercise equipment and you are going to begin an advertising campaign that will be national in scope. Your two new products are the “Posture Policeman” and the “Belly Buster Rotator.”

Before you even begin the campaign you need two new landing pages. One is for “Posture Policeman” and the other is for the “Belly Buster Rotator.” These two pages are absolutely, positively, stand alone pages that are not linked back to anything else on the website. When the campaign begins, the ads – regardless of the media used – will include the URLs for each page. The URLs must be displayed clearly and in large and bold fonts.

Since there is no way a visitor can get to these pages without using the specific URLs, it is reasonable to assume that any traffic on these pages was directed there through the ad campaign you are attempting to evaluate.

It is important to remember two different points. First, the robots.txt exclusion protocol must be installed and active. This will take these two pages out of reach of the spiders and crawlers and the number of visitors to your page will only be because of the ad campaigns. Second, these two URLs must appear only in the ad campaign material itself, nowhere else.

In summary –

Before you begin any ad campaign that you want to track, you must consider using these isolated landing pages from the start. It is necessary to set them up properly in the beginning in order to get meaningful results. You can expand this idea to include marketing efforts with a partner. If their website contains a link to yours, set the landing page up in the manner described above and you will be able to track that specific traffic also.

If you have updated tracking software or tools in place, you will most likely be able to calculate quickly the conversion rates of this specific traffic.

When you understand the principles in using isolated tracking pages, you can define several different applications for this. For example, you can isolate surveys and opinion polls and also conduct several location specific studies.

If you want to stay ahead of the pack in Internet marketing, add these tools and approaches to your tool kit. When you add them to aggressive SEO and positioning, you could find yourself well ahead of the game.

A professional-looking cover letter gets read.

A business letter is short and well formatted. It is printed on quality stationery. The location of your name and address, the date and the name and address of the person you’re sending this to can vary. Many word processing programs will have templates for you to use. Before you send your letter out, proofread it for spelling and grammar and correct use of words.

Simplify the Hiring Authority’s Job

Don’t leave your reader guessing about your letter. Include any information you have about the job for which you applying (title, reference number, etc.). Highlight experience in your most recent or current job that relates to the position, make sure your contact information is correct.

If you are providing any references in your letter, make sure that the names and contact information are correct and let the reference know you’ve included them, so a phone call won’t be a surprise.

Highlight Your Relevant Skills and Experience

The cover letter should contain short descriptions of the skills you have that match what’s required in the job. Be truthful. Exaggerations and lies will get caught. That will insure you’re not going to be considered.

Print a copy of your cover letter and look at it. It should be attractively formatted, placed well on the page and contain the information you want to convey to the hiring authority. Take this one last opportunity to proofread and check phone numbers and e-mail addresses.

The first time you do this, it’s a challenge. Once you get the format and words down, you’ll have mastered cover letters.

A good story is worth the time to read. They are popular, entertaining and even informative. Prospects, customers and editors are always on the lookout for the best stories to read. This is where a case study comes in. What better way to get out the word about the products and services available? There is no better story than a case study when it comes to a tale of success.

The contemporary case study is no longer the boring and analytical document it was in the past. Case studies can also be called customer profiles or case histories, and they are now stories – often very uplifting stories about how a company rose from humble beginnings. They are also stories of the customers who used the product or service and found it to be everything they hoped it would be. They tell the tale of the success of a product or service and how the use of them affected the lives of their customers.

A case study isn’t a detailed analysis with numbers and charts and graphs and dry technical phrasing. It is written much like any article one might in a business magazine. Instead of business strategies and cost structures, a case study can detail how a service saves time and money for its customers through quotes, examples and anecdotes from both the company and the customers.

What is it about a case study that makes it work so very well?

Marketing efforts are much more credible when matched to a case study. It is indisputable evidence of what a product or service does and how it affects customers in the real world. It might take more work and research than the standard ad or direct mail, but a good case study is some of the best advertising a company can have.

It stands out from the crowd. A case study can be reasonably impartial, and one that is put out in a timely manner will catch the eyes of potential customers. Take a look through any trade or professional publication. Many of the articles inside are actually based on material taken directly from case studies.

People like to read case studies. Even if the reader is not a customer, but a fellow business person, they like to read about how other companies dealt with the same sort of problems they themselves may be facing. A case study is like a window into the inner workings of another company.

Customers and potential customers have enough emails, ads, brochures, direct mail and other standard forms of getting the word out. A case study is a fresh approach. It is rarer than the other means and demonstrates the actual effects of the product and service in the world at large. It is not only a success story, but a testimonial of a number of pleased customers. Who could find it easy to resist a story like that, especially when they might help provide a happier ending?

Freelance Writing Desk can help you with any case study you may need.

What if it’s not written correctly? What if it’s ignored? What if it’s printed? No matter what the question, people avoid writing their own releases, thinking that there’s a deep dark mystery surround this type of communication.

You must learn to view a press release as a news item. It is NOT a sales letter. The intention is to provide the readers with information that will be of benefit to them. Do not confuse a news release with a sales promotion article. If you have something that is of benefit to members of the public, use a press release to let them know what you have available.

Save the sales copy for circulars and ads. The objective of those is to sell your product. A press release, on the other hand, lets your customers and potential customers know that your product is available and it has benefit to them.

If you treat your press release copy as an important source of information about what you have to offer, if you avoid a sales approach, your press release will stand out as important and of interest.

Let Freelance Writing Desk write a press release that will help you stand out.

It is perfectly natural to be a little nervous when a client offers a case study writing assignment. After all, is that really freelance writing? In fact, a lot of freelance writers might ask what a case study is in the first place. There are many questions to answer for someone who isn’t entirely certain just what is involved in case study writing.

Like all forms of writing, it takes some practice to master the form. But once the writer gets a handle on it, it can not only be an interesting assignment to fulfill, but a lucrative one, as well. There’s no reason to be afraid when the opportunity arrives. Take it, learn from it and grow as a writer. It may be one of the best decisions a writer could make.

Case studies are really a simple concept. It is the success story of a business seen through the eyes of a customer well pleased with a certain product or service. It is the story of a happy experience. More and more companies need case studies, but they have difficulty finding writers willing to write them.

The fewer writers competing for a particular job means more opportunities for those who do want it. That’s not the best part. Think about these points:

Case studies are actually rather easy to write. They aren’t much different from an article in a newsletter. Able to write a newsletter? Then a case study should be no problem whatsoever.

Case studies are not very long. An article can run about 500 to 1,000 words. A case study usually runs about 400 to 800 words in length. It will take an experienced case study writer less than a day to finish one.

Case studies have standardized formats. Ads and direct mail require some sort of tag or flashy line to attract attention. This is often the most difficult part of the writing. A case study works the same way every time.

Case study writers are always wanted. Companies understand the effectiveness of case studies and are always looking for more. Over the past several years, the demand for case study writers has risen a great deal, which opens up greater opportunities for those writers willing to take them on.

Speaking of writers willing to do case studies, they are currently in short supply. Most copywriters avoid case studies, for whatever reason. Some may think the style is boring or too technical. Others might not even know the option is available. In fact, case study writing is just another form of storytelling, which can be a great deal of fun.

Case studies can be lucrative. To put a finer point on it, case studies can be very lucrative. Direct mail copywriters at the highest echelons will make more money, in all honesty, but the money clients pay for case study writing is certainly nothing to sniff at. An experienced writer can look at rates that equal about $100 an hour and well-known ones can expect even more.

Let Freelance Writing Desk help you get started on your case study today!

1. Become An Expert On Your Product

This is the step that determines if your copywriting sells out or bombs. Learn everything there is to learn about your product. Get excited about it; believe that it can do everything that you need it to do and then some. If you really do not feel this way, then you have no right to sell it.

If you believe that you have a product that people just cannot live without, it will be easier for you to sell it. You will be in the mindset that you are not selling the product but instead offering the people the chance to improve their lives.

If you can get into this mind set then the perfect copy writing should just come to you.

2. Understand Your Audience

Before you put anything on paper or computer screen, define your audience.

Are you selling to a college student or a business owner?

How much money does your potential client make?

What age group are you trying to reach?

Male or female?

How much time does this person have to read your copy?

Design your website specifically for the people that you answered the questions about. Make sure that you take the time to have others review the site.

3. Point Out The Benefits

People are busy, they want to know one of four things, and they want to know them fast.

Will it make me a millionaire?

Will it save some of my valuable time?

Will it amuse me?

Will it give me better self esteem?

4.Make Them Trust You

Your customers cannot see you face-to-face. You have to prove to them that you are honest through your site. Offering a free trial of your product is a good way to let them know you truly believe in it.

Also make it easy for people to contact you. Make sure that every page contains at least your personal email address along the bottom. Speak to your potential customers at their level. Never try to sound smarter than they are.

5. Add Simple Headings

Make your paragraphs shorter but make sure that even the visitor that scans the site will be able to see what each paragraph is about. Use the header in bold to inform what the rest of that paragraph is about.

6. Right And Wrong Words

Right words: Amazing, beneficial, free

Wrong words: should, might, maybe

7. Short And Sweet — Sells

People do not have the time or the attention span to read page after page of copy writing. Give them want they want, and give it to them fast. If your site drags on people will forget why they wanted your product.

8. Make It An Emergency

Adding something that says that the first 50 buyers will receive free shipping will send your sales through the roof. Make them think that they will miss out on the free offer if they think about it instead of making an impulse buy.

9. Make Them Talk Back

You want them to send you their email address so that they will remember you. Tell them you will send them a special newsletter every month.

10. Professionalism

Make sure your site is free of spelling and grammar mistakes. Nothing says amateur like a word spelled wrong. Also try to keep the use of all capital letters and exclamation points to a minimum. Use them only where it is grammatically correct to do so.

Writing copy for your website is too much for you to handle…we can help you at Freelance Writing Desk.

Most writing today is “cut and dried, containing facts and information. Creative writing on the other hand, is intended to express feelings and emotions, to convey thoughts and ideas.

Writers cherish individual freedom and express that through their works. Writing creates a background against which to play out their individuality. It is this desire to live and thrive as an individual that drives many of them to write and continue writing.

The act of writing an article is an act of creation. Writers will struggle to find a new idea or a new slant for their articles. Creative and original work is valued and will catch the imagination and attention of readers. Unfortunately, there is no set procedure to get your brain cranking out good ideas at the drop of a hat. There are, however, methods that will help get your juices flowing and the stream of creative ideas can begin.

Here are some suggestions.

Get a notebook or pad that you use to briefly outline ideas as they come to you. You’ll need to keep this notebook with you at all times and all places – including your bedside table. Every time you get an idea, write it down. Bottom line: if you don’t write the idea down, it may well disappear into the ether. Use those ideas;– don’t let them go to waste.

Use meditation to free your mind. Find a quiet place to sit and relax, calming your mind and spirit. Let your mind open itself. Avoid negativity. Turn off the extraneous and distracting sounds in the back of your mind. Approach writing with a relaxed mental attitude.

Create a special workplace for yourself. Find someplace that is comfortable, quiet and private, without disturbances. Working in a place that evokes a feeling of peace in you can only improve your writing.

Adjust your attitude and your mood when you begin to write. Be positive. Reflect on the good things in your life and indulge yourself in those positive emotions.

Have fun in life. Enjoying yourself on a sunny day can do wonderful things for your imagination. Try something new or silly. Play on a swing or turn a cartwheel. Experiencing life outside of the ordinary is one way to get your imagination going.

Learning to write for the internet can be a little confusing at first because it is not quite the same as most other types of writing. It requires you to change the way that you think. Let’s start with the fact that your online audience is there to read. When your readers are online they are scanning your words at best. Scanning is done because it is a proven fact that when you actually try to read word for word on the screen you are 25 percent slower than reading printed material. If you are wondering what this means to you as the writer, it simply means you have to learn to get people’s attention so that you can connect with them.

Make Your Writing Style Dramatic

The reader is not reading but scanning your words. The more eye-catching a form you use, the more likely they are to stay on the site long enough to read it. Try to break your writing up into segments. Keep each segment in parts of 25 or fewer words. Make sure that the main points of each segment are clearly expressed and even bulleted so that the scanners can pick out the parts that you want them to see quickly and efficiently. Bellow is an example of what your ideas and words should look like in a bulletined format.

Topic of the bulletin list

Main point

Another important point

More relevant details

Formatting information in the above way makes it easier to get your point across to the reader.

There are four words that start with the letter C that make your internet writing experience easy. They should also make your writing more enjoyable for the people who are going to read it.

1. Concise — Do not overstuff the details. Keep your writing short and to the point and you will be impressed with the numbers of readers who return to your site.

2. Clear — Use words that are straight to the point. No one wants to have to look up words that they don’t understand.

3. Credible – Make your writing as honest as possible; the reader will appreciate it,

4. Clean — Keep it simple for the reader. Cluttered writing is hard to scan. If the writing is clean and clear, readers will enjoy it.

Keep It Simple

Write even the most complicated things simply. No one has the time to stop in the middle of what they are reading to grab the dictionary. Just because you are a professional writing and have an extensive vocabulary does not mean your reader does. Just remember that it is your job to give your readers the information that they want in a way that they can understand it.

Allow us at Freelance Writing Desk to write concise, clear, clean and credible writing for your business.

Many students have found a written case study analysis is necessary for their coursework, whether as an individual or group project. Either case must follow certain guidelines common to case study work. There are guidelines following, but first be certain they do not conflict with any guidelines provided by the instructor.

Generally, the structure of a good case study begins with an introduction to the case. Outline the purpose of the company, its development, any problems that have arisen and what approach will be taken with the issues mentioned in the case itself.

The next part of the case write-up should be used for strategy analysis. This should focus on the strategies of the business itself and how it works. Use headings and sub-headings to give the analysis some structure and make it easy to read and absorb.

The final part should be the conclusion – solutions and recommendations. Give a thorough presentation, while making sure it summarizes and answers all the questions put forth in the earlier sections. The instructor will be able to tell just how much work was put into the whole project by how well this final section comes together.

Not all analyses will follow that same format exactly because not all situations are the same. These guidelines may help to elevate a good analysis into something excellent, if used with proper discretion.

Do not summarize the facts from the case. The instructor already knows all of it. The information should be used to point at the solution given in the conclusion. Be analytical, rather than descriptive.

All the parts of the analysis should fall into a cohesive whole. The sections and subsections should fit together, each one building to the next. This is especially important to remember for a group project, so it does not end up appearing choppy and uneven. A group effort should look like the group worked together, not like a number of independent works slapped together

Grammar and spelling errors make even the best analysis look like amateur work. Avoid them at all costs.

Cases sometimes do not have current information, especially when a company is well-known. Things can change a great deal for a company over the course of a few years. Search for more information to fill in the gaps and make sure everything is up to date. The internet is often a good place to start. In addition, a number of companies would be pleased to provide information if they are asked for it in writing.

An instructor might provide questions for the cases to aid in the process of analysis. These can be used to help write the case analysis itself. They point at the issues the instructor would like the students to explore and discuss. Build the analysis around them to get to the heart of the topic of study.

These guidelines should help anyone who wants to lift the standards of a case study analysis from good to excellent.

If you are attending high school, college or even attempting to get a job, it is very important that your writing skills are up to par. The better you are at the writing process the better the end result of your efforts will be. Figure out what your topic will be, think about how you want to organize your paper, research the topic and remember to take a lot of organized, orderly notes.

When it comes time to choose your topic, try the cause and effect method. Find a topic that you can easily research and explain. Make sure to run the topic past a few friends to see if it is something that will be interesting to your peers. Think outside of the box; creative ideas enliven a paper.

Getting Started

The very first thing that you have to do is to get organized. Try writing an outline. This outline will keep you on track and, when submitted along with your paper, will give your reader something to follow along with. The outline will also help you with the logical introduction, main body of your paper and the conclusion. There is a basic layout that you should always follow when you are trying to write a research paper.

Introduction

Body

Conclusion

The introduction tells the reader what the rest of your paper is about. It has a short statement of what the paper is about. The body of the research paper will be based on the information that the author has to support his ideas. The conclusion should sum up the paper. It should help the reader understand all of the information that the author has given them in the body portion of the paper.

Three steps to writing a college paper

Prewriting: This is where you decide what to write about. Figure out how you will approach researching the topic and then presenting it.

Writing: This is the step where you draft your paper. Stick with the details and lay them out on the paper.

Rewriting: this is the step that brings the paper together. All of the editing is done and this should be the final copy.

These are the main steps to writing your paper. Keep in mind that depending on the size of the paper there are some minor steps that when added will make your writing experience go more smoothly. Understanding what you are writing about is one of the minor steps that is a must. Understand what the professor expects from your assignment before you even begin.

The level of research is another minor step. Make sure that you research your topic to the best of your ability. When you sit down to put your thoughts on paper you will be surprised how easy it comes if enough research was done.

Before handing in your paper look over it again .Is the paper in black ink? Are all the errors, sentence fragments and mistakes removed from the final copy? If the answer is yes, then read through it on more time before you hand it in for grading.
